Harris 3 - Braeview 6
|
A rain soaked Saturday morning saw the Harris Senior Football Team make their third appearance of the season – hoping to record their first win. In an interesting team selection by manager Mr.Laidlaw, senior team debuts were given to Paul McManus in central defence, Scott Harris in midfield and Stevie Scott in attack. Harris couldn’t have wished for a better start to the game with two goals by one of the debutants Stevie Scott giving them a good advantage with less than 20 minutes on the clock. The first goal in particular was impressive, with the striker leaving three defenders in his wake before slotting the ball home. Braeview, however, were soon to hit-back with a miss-hit free kick deceiving the Harris defensive wall to leave goalkeeper Ross Bell with no chance and a bemused expression on his face. Braeview’s equalising goal was somewhat better, a good finish from their most impressive player finding the top corner of the Harris goal. As the rain began to fall heavier, Braeview continued to press forward and fairly quickly established a three goal advantage (although one the goals appeared to be clearly offside). Harris hit back with the exciting Robbie Robertson winning a tackle which led to Jamie Garvock tucking the ball into the bottom left hand corner of the goal. The game was to end on a sour note for Harris with Braeview adding a sixth goal late on. Overall, however, it could be said that the all-round performance from the lad’s was better than the previous game. There wasn’t a player who could be said not to have tried their hardest, and with several new players introduced and just beginning to gel; hopefully next weeks game will bring a more positive result to go along with a spirited performance.
