Girls Coca-Cola 7s Triumph

A Girls' football team from Harris Academy have won an-all-expenses-paid trip to Barcelona by winning the Coca-Cola 7s Final at Hampden Park.

Pupils from schools all over Scotland battled it out in a tournament that kicked off last January.  More than 6,000 players from Orkney to Galashiels entered, but it came down to a battle between Mintlaw Academy from near Peterhead and Harris Academy in the girls' final.  It was 0 - 0 at full time, but Harris Academy lifted the cup by beating Mintlaw 3 - 2 on penalties.

The winning team can now look forward to a few days at the home of Spanish league champions Barcelona.  Not only will the children receive top class training during their trip, but they will also take in a Barcelona match at the Nou Camp Stadium.

All the schools that reached the Hampden finals received a full set of kit from Coca-Cola, while former Scotland stars Murdo MacLeod and Gary MacKay were on hand to put the players through a professional pre-match warm-up.

Former Celtic midfielder MacLeod said, "It was a brilliant day and Harris Academy deserved to win. They have shown determination and skill all the way through the tournament."
