Scottish schools golf championship – Ross Bell leaves School in a blaze of glory having won the Scottish Schools Championship in Troon. In an exciting final round he fought off a determined challenge from two other competitors to win on the 18th hole. Ross will now go on to represent Scotlands schools against England in September Girls’ Football – The girls’ football club has had a successful year. They have won the Dundee Secondary Schools S3/4 Tournament and the S3 Armed Forces Tournament. Lucie Cook represented Scottish Schools in goal against Wales, Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland in April keeping a clean sheet in all these matches. Schools Sports – After four days of sports heats, 94 pupils will be taking part in our annual school sports on Wednesday 21st June. Out of these pupils 47 have been selected to represent Harris Academy at the Dundee School Sports. Netball – The netball club have also had a good year. At the recent Dundee Secondary Schools Tournament the S1 team came 1st, the S2/3 team came 1st and the senior team came 2nd. Tournoi Jeanne d’Arc – Once again three teams from Dundee, two from Harris and one from the City’s Primary School visited our twin city of Orleans to participate in their May Day rugby festival. The standard of rugby was exceedingly high and all three Dundee teams performed exceptionally well enabling us to finish overall fourth out of the fifteen participating teams. All in all it has been a very successful year not just for the competitions won out of school or the amount of representative honours pupils have achieved be it regional or national, but for the amount of effort and enthusiasm pupils have put into curricular classes. Harris Hawks – Hockey The link with Harris FP Hockey club is now in its second year. Following the successful introduction with S1/2 last year, coaching has been extended to include S1 to S3 and our associated primary schools. At under 14 level a team was entered in the local schools midweek league and the North regional league at weekends. This year the side also qualified for the Scottish Cup play-offs and finished 6th, only losing to the eventual winners. Regulars in the side were Daniel Forouhar, Callum Mackie, Erin Schepers, Grant McGeoghie, Linden Forster, Andrew Griffiths and Catriona McNeish. Linden and Grant were also selected for the Midlands U14 outdoor team. The under 16 team came 4th in the North regional league and Kyle Howie, Victor Mackie, Neil McWilliam, Claire Matanda, Michael Kerr and Josh Harrison also played for Harris FP indoor and outdoor teams during the season. |
