| A
14 year old Harris Academy pupil has helped a national charity
campaign take a major step forward with her magic shoes.
Jennifer
Heilbronn, from Invergowrie, threw herself into collecting shoes
and donations for the One Step Beyond appeal to fulfil the
service element of her bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award, which she
is working towards at the Shore in Dundee.
A poster
campaign saw Jennifer rally family and friends to collect as
many pairs of unwanted footwear as possible. Jennifer amassed
around 250 pairs of shoes, even securing the support of top
celebrities Stephen Fry and Harry Potter star Daniel Ratcliffe.
Both celebrities enclosed letters with their shoes. In his
letter, Ratcliffe told Jennifer that when he returned to film
the third instalment his old school shoes were far too
small. However, luckily for Jennifer, the costume
department on the Potter films was generous enough to give
Daniel the shoes he had worn in the movie.
Daniel joked,
"So the shoes I'm donating were Harry's first and then
mine. And Harry would like to apologise for any odour".
