The creativity of Dundee youngsters was celebrated at an awards ceremony and exhibition last night (17 August). The McIntosh Patrick Awards were organised by the city council to remember distinguished Dundee artist James McIntosh Patrick and also to encourage talent for the future. Pupils from all 10 of the city's secondary schools entered the competition which was won by a pupil from Harris Academy for his pencil and watercolour portrait entitled Self Portrait. He received £100, plus a framed print of McIntosh Patrick's City Garden from the artist's daughter, Ann Patrick, who also acted as a judge for the competition.
The work of all 36
finalists is displayed at the coffee shop in Dundee University's Gardyne
Road campus until August 22, and then in Tayside House from August 22 to
September 2. |
