The Annual Prizegiving Ceremony was held in the Assembly Hall on Thursday 2nd July, 2009 before a capacity audience of pupils, former pupils, parents and guests. The proceedings were opened by Mr Denis Speedie who made the formal introductions, followed by a reading from Miss Kerry-Ann Stark. The School Orchestra, under the direction of Mrs E Fitzgerald and leader Aisha Schofield, then performed Handel's "La Rejouissance" from "Music for the Royal Fireworks". The Principal Speaker, Lesley Mackie, then addressed the assembly. Mr Thewliss then delivered the Head Teacher's Address. (The whole address can be viewed by clicking the link above.) Mrs Mackie then performed the duty of awarding the prizes. A vote of thanks was proposed by the School Captains, Aisha Schofield and Scott Findlay, and a Closing Prayer given by Rev. David Scott. As always, the ceremony ended with the Harris Holiday Song, under the direction of Ethel Fitzgerald.
