Develop and maintain
policy and guidelines on the management and use of the library resource
centre in collaboration with senior staff, and contribute as appropriate
to other school policies.

Co-operate with teaching
staff in providing resources appropriate to courses and abilities of
pupils across the school.

Facilitate and encourage
the independent learning skills of all pupils, both within and out with
the school day, through the provision of appropriate stock, relevant
information skills courses and a creative working environment.

Co-operate with teaching
staff in providing access to and training in the range of ICT resources
and in developing ICT for the benefit of the school community.

Assess and service the
information needs of pupils and staff through the provision of
appropriate resources and contact with outside agencies.

Promote reading for
enjoyment through the provision of appropriate stock and promotional
activities aimed at a wide range of interests and reading abilities.

Encourage and support good
resource management practices across the school by offering advice and
assistance to departments as required.

Monitor and evaluate the
work of the library resource centre on a regular basis using relevant
performance indicators and participate in the schools annual review
process.
