Carols at Tesco

On Christmas Eve the 'Make Poverty History' group embarked upon Tesco Riverside. Armed with buckets and musical instruments, the group used their talents to entertain shoppers for two hours. Kirstine Hunter (Cello), Jessica Donnelly (Violin) and Ruth Thompson (Violin) played Christmas Carols for shoppers as they entered the building. Whilst the other members of the group Mairi, Esther and Sarah collected money from the very generous shoppers!

The recruitment of Findlay Caird relieved the trio for a while as he came armed with his bagpipes and successfully managed to get the feet of the customers tapping!

It was a highly successful venture, not only in terms of money raised, which was a whopping £724, but also as an indication of how much this project means to the group. That they were willing to give up their Christmas eve to go to Tesco in full school uniform demonstrates a great level of commitment and for this they are to be congratulated.

Well Done 'Make Poverty History'!
