Music Evening
2009

|
The music evening was
for the World Challenge funds for pupils to go to Zambia in 2010. The
World Challenge is going to allow Harris pupils to gain educational
experience in the developing world which teach life skills, stretch
comfort zones and expand minds outside the classroom. The bespoke 1 to
6 week itineraries foster team and leadership skills and are the
culmination of pioneering programmes which see young people involved
in planning and fundraising their way to the experience of a lifetime.
The music evening was a
crucial part in gaining funds to make young people from Harris Academy
dreams come true.
The singers who
took part were the Take 3 girls including ex-pupil Carol Knight as
well as Kirsty McLaren and Marlowe Simpson. The 4 lassies singers
currently studying at Harris Academy were Hannah Ferrie, Rachel
Petrie, Rebecca Low and Sophie Gowan. The range of songs were from
Abba, the Supremes, Queen and Take That. Also from singers
such as Eva Cassiday, Lulu, and Dolly Parton. Also a
selection was sung from Songs for a New World.
