R.M.Kean
Trophy Dundee
School Football Association 5 – aside Competition One third year team
and one fourth year team from Harris Academy went to the Dundee Schools
Football Association indoor 5 aside competition to compete for the under
16 R.M. Kean trophy. Both teams did well
in the group stages against 5 other Dundee schools, winning all of their
games and going through to the final against each other. This is
something that has never happened in the history of the cup. The final between
the two Harris sides was an enthralling encounter with the tenacious
third year team taking a 2-0 leaf. The first goal being an error by
centre half Rory Anderson as he ran into his own goalkeepers area,
gifting the third years an instant penalty. This shocked the fourth
years and gave them a wake up call. They pulled it back to 2-2 much to
the relief of the manager Mr O’Brien. At this point the hard working
skipper Charlie Carrie was introduced, buying the fourth year team some
much needed time on the ball. Before the fourth years had found their
feet another third year goal went in, much to the delight of the
animated Mr Cuthbert. With a few minutes
left Harris A worked hard and were rewarded when Jackson Craigie latched
on to a through ball by Gordon Stout and finished neatly. Extra time and
golden goal would decide this one and the favourites Harris A came out
on top due to a final goal ! A quick free kick taken by Carrie played
into the path of the unmarked Kevin Johnstone who belted it past the
stranded Stuart Buick in goals. At Grove Academy it
finished Harris a 4 Harris B 3. Jackson Craigie.(reporter, pupil and player) *
