Course Content
Graphic Communication uses a range of methods. These include:
Computer
Aided Graphics
Illustration
and presentation techniques
Drawing
board and sketching skills
The course
includes:
Two Dimensional Drawing: Sketching, drawing in orthographic projection, dimensioning, scale drawing, reading, interpretation of graphical material, sectional views, assembly and computer aided drawing. (AUTOCAD 2002LT)
Three Dimensional Drawing: Sketching, drawing using one and two-point perspective, planometric, isometric, oblique projection, exploded views, production of graphs and packaging of products modelled from paper and card.
Assessment
Standard Grade Graphic Communication involves three assessable elements:
Illustration
and Presentation
Knowledge
and Interpretation
Drawing
Abilities
Illustration and Presentation is internally assessed on the basis of a portfolio, a collection of best work in a range of media, demonstrating abilities in various graphical techniques, including computer applications.
Knowledge and Interpretation and Drawing Abilities are assessed by a final examination at General and either Foundation or Credit levels in June of 4th year.
Additional Information
Access to a drawing board, T-square and graphic equipment, though not essential would be advantageous.
