course details
(Correct at March 2001)
All pupils receive one period per week of Social Education which is taught by Guidance teachers. The focus of the work is on the pupils themselves and their needs. Every effort is made to ensure that the themes and content of the course respond to the needs of the pupils both individually and in groups.
Pupils are given opportunities to explore their own values and attitudes. They are taught how to access information and to consider its implications for their own life-styles. They also have the opportunity to develop and practice personal and inter-personal skills.
Through these processes pupils develop their own self-esteem, positive regard for others and inter-personal effectiveness.
