3rd/4th YEAR ASDAN GROUP

The four boys in the Asdan group, Irfan Nazir, Abraham Ali, Darren Schnell and Ross Burgess raised money from the sale of their Christmas baubles.  With this money they had a trip out to Camperdown Wildlife Centre followed by lunch in McDonalds.  The remainder of the money - £18.40 - was donated to the school fund.

Two of the boys, Irfan Nazir and Ross Burgess will be presented for their Asdan Bronze Award in September

Dyslexia Workshop

SfL ran a two period workshop for 1st Year pupils with dyslexia.  The pupil s looked at how dyslexia affects their learning and at learning styles but the main focus was self-help.  Feedback showed that the pupils found this very helpful and further workshops are planned for other year groups in the new school year.

S4 xl Group

The group have had a very successful two years and are to be congratulated on all their efforts.  In March, We all enjoyed a wonderful  3 day residential trip to Loch Lomond, where the sun shone on the ‘bonnie banks’ and a great time was had by all. Many thanks to Provident Financial for providing the funding and to The Scottish Youth Hostel Association.  Four members of our group achieved their Asdan Silver Awards, Melissa Simpson, Sonia Yaqoob, Alan Valentine and Andrew Griffiths.  Well done to them for all their hard work and commitment.   We wish you all the best for the future.

April 2009

As the members of the group prepare for their exams, we have a change of scenery planned by taking them on a residential trip for 3 days from the 30th March 2009 to Loch Lomond.  We have been fortunate enough to have funding provided for us by Provident Financial and the pupils raised funds from a Bingo night, therefore all they will need is spending money.

Outdoor activities are being provided for us by "Can you experience" and include canoeing, mountain biking, abseiling, hiking and team-building.  All we need is dry weather!

The group have achieved Bronze Asdan Awards last year and are completing their Silver ones this year. It has been a pleasure to work with them all and they have all contributed to the success of the group.  We would like to wish them all the best for the future.
