The Library Resource Centre is a
very busy area in this school, it provides material to support the curriculum,
helping with pupils investigations and encouraging reading. We have a stock of
approximately 9000 items, mainly books, but also audio tapes (story tapes)
videos and CD-ROM's.
The I.C.T. area has 30 computers which are for pupil use. They are mainly booked
in by their teachers, but senior pupils with free periods can book a computer to
work on their own. These computers are used for word processing , and for
research using the Internet and CD-ROMs.
To encourage reading, most 1st - 4th year pupils have a time during an English
period when they can change their Library Books. They can borrow 2 items. Books
are loaned for 2 weeks, audio tapes 1 week and videos overnight. Returning items
is a problem for some pupils, and we would ask parents to help us get our books
back on time.
During the Lunch Hour the L.R.C. is usually open for about 30 minutes for pupils
to change books, use computers (which must be pre-booked) or do homework. We
allow different year groups in each lunchtime
