by Mr Thewliss four times a year.

 

June 2007

Congratulations to the Classics Department who triumphed in the Latin Recitation Competition at St Andrews University, Competing against schools from as far away as Aberdeen and Edinburgh. Bianca Paesano won the Senior Competition and Aisha Schofield won the Intermediate Competition. They both gave very dramatic readings of a passage of Latin prose and emotional performances of Latin poetry – by heart! The judges said how impressed they were by the Harris girls` performances. Well Done!  

 

June 2006

Congratulations to the Classics Department who once again have been successful in the Tayside Classical Association Latin Recitation Competition.  Bianca Paesano won the Higher Latin competition with a vivid and moving performance of Virgil and Cicero and Aisha Schofield was second in the Intermediate section.  Schools from as far away as Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Perth were competing and so this is a very fine achievement.   Well done.

 

June 2005

Once again Harris has done well in the Latin Recitation Competition at St Andrews University. Congratulations to Bianca Paesano who was awarded a merit certificate for her thoughtful and expressive performance.

 

October 2004

Congratulations to Zoe Jordan, S3 who was a top prizewinner in the Gilbert Murray Classics Essay Competition.  She wrote a very well researched and exciting story set at the time of the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79AD.  This competition is open to all schools in Scotland and to win a prize is a major achievement.

 

June 2004

Once again the Classics Department has been successful in the Tayside Classical Association Recitation Competition.  Holly Nicoll won the Intermediate Latin Competition with a very dramatic and entertaining performance.  Fay Costello and Jody Rae were awarded Merit Certificates for excellent performances.
