Chemistry at Work

| Keen young
scientists have had a unique chance to gain an insight into the world of
chemistry. Over 400 Standard Grade pupils from the Tayside area
participated in the Chemistry at Work event held at Dundee University's
Carnelley building, which saw them learning more about the practical side
of the discipline. This ranged from the use of chemistry in solving crimes to the treatment process required for safe drinking water. The event was organised by the Royal Society of Chemistry and various chemical science and chemistry-related companies such as Shell, Scottish Water and Diageo. Natalie Goodman, of the Tayside local section, said, "The pupils have gained a valuable insight into careers within the chemical sciences industry. The range of talks have been practical and informative, stimulating the pupils' interest in chemistry." |
