Science in September (1)
On Thursday, 21st September 2001, a
group of 40 second year pupils visited the Biological Sciences Institute at
Dundee University to take part in a project entitled "DNA
Kitchen". The following pages illustrate what happened during the
day.

The pupils received a talk from Dr Keith Skene on DNA. The talk was followed by a session in the university laboratories.

In the labs, the pupils extracted DNA from wheat germ using chemicals that can
be found in the kitchen.
