Business Dynamics 2003

On Tuesday 11th and Wednesday 12th November my peers and myself  from fifth and sixth year were lucky enough to take the opportunity of attending the 2 day Business Dynamics Course, held at Northern College here in Dundee. The course was run and presented by a man called Colin Campbell who entertained us all the whole two days with his humour and help with our most enjoyable activities.

We were all separated into 6 teams where we worked together with activities which were given out by guests from different companies - for example Suzan Stark who gave us a very interesting, beneficial talk on Management.  These activities were from our guests from departments such as Management, Finance and Advertising.  We felt very honoured and grateful to our guests for teaching us so much we never knew before.

In our groups we worked together to produce and present talk and role plays on subjects we had learned on the course.  At the end of the 2 days, these presentations entertained us to a great extent which was helped by celebrity acts of Simon Cowell and David Beckham - with David "advertising" the latest (human) Vodaphone mobile  and Simon having to make the professional "management" decision in "Job blot" between two applicants for an administration job.  One applicant was successful and the other not so successful to say the least.  Other presentations showed discrimination in the workplace with an "English" pupil being the victim in the ever so upsetting story.

Overall, everyone enjoyed themselves throughout the course and found it to be a true learning experience which everyone had the opportunity to take part in.  Everyone learned things from decision making to improving our confidence.  We would like to thank everyone involved in making the course possible and recommend others to attend if given the opportunity.
