Course Content

The course provides a broad-based Biology experience designed to stimulate interest in a range of applied and vocational areas of Biology.  The areas for study are those of economic, vocational, and social importance.

The course consists of three units:

 

Health and Technology

a)                  What is health and technology

b)                  A healthy Heart

c)                  Healthy Lungs

d)                  A healthy body

 

Biotechnological Industries

a)                  Daily industries

b)                  Yeast-based industries

c)                  Detergent industries

d)                  Pharmaceutical industries

 

Growing Plants

a)                  Growing plants from seeds

b)                  Vegetative propagation

c)                  Plant Production

 

Assessment

The formal assessment consists of a National Test at the end of each Unit and a written exam at the end of the course.  There are 9 set practical experiments which pupils must carry out.
