2008 Congratulations to Cally Evans, S6 who was one of only 100 Scottish students whose work was exhibited in the National Gallery of Scotland in Edinburgh over the festive period, in an exhibition which celebrated “Scotland’s creative talent”. Friends of the Royal Scottish Academy Art Award
Congratulations
to Anna Hine 6K1 whose painting “Revelation 21” was highly commended
in the recent Friends of the Royal Scottish Academy Art Award annual
competition. Her work can currently be seen at the Royal Scottish
Academy, Princes Street, Edinburgh in the exhibition “Cultivating
Creativity” which is on show until 14 April.
Herald Newspaper Congratualtions
to Tanya Hendrie S6 whose painting “Strawberrybank” was selected for
inclusion in Dundee City Council Education Department’s annual
calendar. The picture was subsequently illustrated in the Herald
newspaper on the 8 February with the heading “Some of the Best Work by
Students in Scotland” PTPA Logo Competition All
S3 Standard Grade Art & Design pupils took part in a project to
research, develop and design a new logo for the Parent Pupil Teacher
Association. This was a “live” brief with restrictions and targets
which had to be met. Pupils responded with some excellent work and eight
finalists were chosen. The winning design by Michaela Netto now graces
PTPA notepaper, posters and other publicity material.
Alexandra McMillan 4C3 will be exhibiting her work at the Dundee Art Society Exhibition, Roseangle, Dundee from 23rd June – 1st July. The exhibition is open from 11am – 5pm. Alix`s painting is Harris Academy’s entry for the Roseangle Cup presented by Dundee Art society.
October 2005 McIntosh Patrick Award This award is made to S6 pupils in City schools studying at Advanced Higher Level. Pupil's art work is judged by a panel including McIntosh Patrick's daughter. Several of our pupils were highly commended with Alisdair Chisholm having the distinction of winning the overall award.
October 2004 Harris pupils continue to excel in Art at both local and national level. Lewis Donegan of last year’s S6 was runner up in the McIntosh Patrick award which is for works produced by students in Dundee Schools studying Art and Design at Advanced Higher level. This was a remarkable achievement given the exceptionally high standard of work submitted from across the city. At a national level Eve Flavell, K1 was placed 3rd overall in the Playfair Schools Competition which was organised by the National Gallery of Scotland and open to pupils across the country. Eve was presented with her award at a ceremony in the National Gallery and was featured in a recent edition of the Scotsmans’ education section.
